A short history of our Family Business

• 1989 — The Beginning

  It was years ago when David O'Gorman (Eric's father) set up our first family business. In the early days, we specialised in educational, horticultural and agricultural tours. We offered highly customised tours with a personal service to match.

• The Early Years — Local suppliers

  Throughout the 1990s we became more widely known as an independent Irish business, both at home and abroad. Here in Ireland, we built a strong reputation with regional suppliers who knew they could trust us as a reliable local partner. As our buying power grew in this way, our guests benefited from better prices and better access to the best hotels, tour buses and attractions.

• 1990s-2000s - Our reputation grows

  By the time David's son Eric joined the family business in 2001, we were already well-known in the industry as a real Irish tour operator which had a different character to its corporate, international rivals. Our smaller size and our local contacts enabled us to offer experiences which the competition could not. Whether guests wanted to try their hand at turf cutting, watch a sheepdog trial or climb a lighthouse, we had the local contacts to make it happen. This was true for all our guests, whether they were a couple on honeymoon or a 100-strong orchestra touring Ireland together.

• 2014 — A New Brand is born

  In 2014, determined to expand and stay ahead of the competition, our family launched a new website with a new brand. My Ireland Tour was born. Offering a mix of private tours and scheduled tour packages (we only sell our own tours, no re-selling or agents' fees), My Ireland Tour would bring the traditional values and service of a family business to the modern world of online vacation shopping.

• Present Day — Ireland's top-rated tour operator

  Today, with 2493 five-star reviews out of a possible 2578, we're thrilled to be Ireland's top-rated tour operator. We like to think that's down to the values we have always maintained as an independent family business. We're still a small, friendly team with a passion for good service. We still run a limited number of tours, allowing us to oversee every detail. And we still love to share the country we call home.
