There will be 3 Group transfers this morning between 0700 am & 1200 noon. Trinity College is also home to the Book of Kells, which is the most richly decorated of Ireland's medieval illuminated manuscripts. The book contains the four gospels in Latin. Some of the dyes used were imported from as far as the Middle East.

No visit to Dublin would be complete without a visit to the Guinness Storehouse at St. James's Gate for a tour of the world famous brewery and afterwards enjoy a perfect pint of Guinness in the Gravity Bar, which is located at the top of a glass tower that commands spectacular views of Dublin City & County in every direction.

Day 2 Itinerary

This morning after breakfast you will depart for Ballynahinch Castle for an unrivalled experience of true Irish hospitality. Formerly the home of "Humanity Dick" Martin and The Maharajah Ranjitsinhji, Ballynahinch Castle has been welcoming visitors to Connemara for over 250 years. At Ballynahinch Castle, My Ireland Tour guests will enjoy the breathtaking Superior Bedroom. This unique castle is spectacularly located on a private 450 acre estate of woodlands, rivers and walks in the heart of Connemara.

Travelling west your route today will take you through Ballinasloe & Athlone, which is the centre of Ireland. You will visit Clonmacnoise a medieval monastery on the banks of the River Shannon founded by St. Ciaran in the 6th century. Clonmacnoise lay at a crossroads of medieval Ireland linking all parts of the island. Sacked time and again by the Vikings, it nevertheless flourished for over 600 years.

We will continue west on our journey to Galway City, known as the "City of the Tribes". On arrival in Galway you will have a panoramic tour of this ancient city including its famous Eyre Square. Take time for a ramble down Shop Street to Galway's Latin Quarter where stands Lynch's Castle, Galway's grandest 16th century town house. Stroll up the bustling Quay Street with its many great pubs and lively street performers.

We will travel on west of Galway City via the villages of Oughterard, Maam Cross & Recess into the wilds of Connemara, famous for its bogs, mountains and rugged coastline. Tonight you will overnight & dine in Ballynahinch Castle. Suggestion: After dinner you might like to retire to the friendly Fisherman's Pub for a nightcap (Connemara Single Malt Irish Whiskey is just a suggestion) before bed.

Please note, although Ballynahinch Castle has undergone many modernising refurbishments over the past 250 years there are no elevators in the hotel. There is a full porter service, to carry your bags to and from the bedroom, but walking up and down the stairs, for anyone with mobility issues, can be quite difficult. Please, feel free to contact us should you have any such concerns.

Day 3 Itinerary

This morning after breakfast take some time to explore at your leisure the extensive grounds of Ballynahinch Castle. There are some who visit Ballynahinch Castle and never leave the grounds during their stay, such is the choice of activities available. Hiking the trails, taking a fly-fishing tutorial, playing tennis, biking, or simply sitting in the tranquillity of the grounds listening to the song of the river as it makes its interminable journey to the sea are all possibilities today.

This afternoon if the lure of the castle grounds are not too strong you will tour the sights of wild Connemara. You will have free time in Clifden, the capital of Connemara which was founded in 1812 by the High Sheriff of Galway to create a pocket of respectability within the lawlessness of Connemara.

You will visit Kylemore Abbey, which is nestled at the base of Duchruach Mountain on the northern shore of Lough Pollacappul, in the heart of the Connemara Mountains. It is regarded as one of Ireland's most romantic buildings.

Your return route to Ballynahinch Castle will take you via the spectacular Inagh Valley with the rugged 12 Bens of Connemara on your right and the Maumturks mountain range on your left. Tonight you will overnight and dine in Ballynahinch Castle.

This morning after breakfast you will depart for the Gaelic speaking fishing port of Dingle Your journey to Dingle will take you down the Wild Atlantic Way on the west coast of Clare via the famous Galway Bay, Dunguaire Castle and the fishing village of Kinvarra.

Your journey to Dingle will take you down the Wild Atlantic Way on the west coast of Clare via the famous Galway Bay, Dunguaire Castle and the fishing village of Kinvarra. You will see The Burren, which is Gaelic for rocky land, an apt name for this vast limestone plateau. In the 1640's, Cromwell's surveyor described it as "a savage land, yielding neither water enough to drown a man, nor tree to hang him, nor soil enough to bury".

On the Atlantic west coast of County Clare you will stand on the dramatic 214 metres (704 feet) high and 8 kilometres (5 miles) long Cliffs of Moher to gaze out on the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy a short ferry journey across the majestic Shannon River from Killimer to Tarbert. Continue on via Tralee, the capital of Kerry to the fishing town of Dingle. Tonight you will overnight in Heaton's Guesthouse.

Day 5 Itinerary

After breakfast, depart for the scenic Slea Head Drive on the Wild Atlantic Way via the quaint village of Ventry. Continue on via the Slea Head to Dunquin for views over the Blasket Islands, now an uninhabited island rich for its flora and fauna. Irish writer Peig Sayers famously wrote about life on the island in the struggling 20th century.

You may be interested in a stroll on Coomenoole beach. This small but beautiful beach was used as one of the film locations for the filming of 'Ryan's Daughter'. Continue on to Ballyferriter, a West Kerry Gaeltacht heartland (Irish speaking area). Here in Ballyferriter you will have a workshop tour of the Louis Mulcahy Pottery and you will have an opportunity to try your own skill at the potter’s wheel and enjoy lunch in the adjoining cafe.

After lunch in the inspiring Dingle landscape surroundings you will travel on to visit the archaeological highlight of Gallarus Oratory - an early Christian site. Return to Dingle for an afternoon visit to the Dingle Distillery. Evening free in Dingle famous for its artisan galleries and lively pubs including Dick Mack’s, O Flaherty’s & O'Sullivan’s Court House Pub. Tonight you will overnight at Heaton's Guesthouse.

Reviews of this tour

June 2019  •  Ancient Ireland Tour

My husband and I absolutely adored the country of Ireland and are anxious to return. Our tour guide, Colm, was both informative and funny throughout the duration of the trip. We never felt rushed at any particular location and enjoyed the freedom to explore local towns and pubs on our own while still receiving advise from Colm. If you want to get a glimpse of the different landscapes of Ireland, I highly recommend the Dingle tour. We look forward to returning to Ireland soon!

June 2019  •  Ancient Ireland Tour

We did the Ancient Ireland Dingle Tour and could not have been happier with the quality of this tour. The sites and accommodations were amazing! Our driver-guide, Colm, was very knowledgeable and personable. I would definitely recommend this tour and hope to return to take another tour with My Ireland Tour. I wouldn't visit Ireland any other way!

June 2019  •  Ancient Ireland Tour

We did the Ancient Ireland Mini-Group Tour ,Ring of Kerry Version, with lots of add-ons!! Eric O'Gorman designed an amazing 10 night private tour for 8 of us, and it was outstanding! Our guide Oisin was just the nicest and most accommodating person who made everything run perfectly. There were plenty of stops, and the private tour made it easy to design an itinerary that appealed to everyone. All hotels and staff were lovely, Ballynahinch Castle was just unbelievable, and Glasha Farmhouse was beautiful and as comfortable as home. Olive was an amazing hostess and we were sad to leave after just one night. In Dublin, it was also great to have Dervilla show us around, she was so entertaining and knowledgeable! Also, we were glad we added the Aran Island tour. Its such a quiet, pristine, beautiful place. The sun was shining all day and the seals were loving it too! Thank you so much for creating such a magical trip for us to Ireland.

May 2019  •  Ancient Ireland Tour

We went on the mini group tour Ring of Kerry version. The tour guide/driver David was wonderful. He knows many things about Ireland that you can't read in any books. David was witty, helpful and the best tour guide we have ever had. David suggested many off the beaten path things to see and we all got to see things not on the itinerary. It was wonderful. The food and accommodations were both very good. The mini group of eight worked out well and we made new friends we hope to keep for a lifetime. I would highly recommend My Ireland Tour. Request David if you go!

July 2018  •  Ancient Ireland Tour

Our trip was AMAZING from start to finish! Our tour guide, David Breen, was second to none. He was an excellent driver & a walking/talking encyclopedia of facts about Ireland. There isn't one thing I would change about this trip - the Ancient Ireland Mini Group Tour was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Thank you!

May 2017  •  Ancient Ireland Tour

My husband and I took the small group tour of Ancient Ireland. There were 6 people total in our group. It was the best decision we made regarding our trip. Our guide, David Breen, was FABULOUS! He shared a wealth of knowledge about each of the areas we visited. He answered all of our questions and was very patient with my husband and me. My husband broke his foot 2 weeks before our trip, so we moved much slower than the other 4 passengers because he had to use crutches and sometimes a cane when walking. The sites that we visited were wonderful. The Brooks Hotel was extremely friendly. Connor, the Concierge, at the Hotel provided a lot of recommendations for dinner, shopping, and other attractions in Dublin. The Ballynahinch Castle was gorgeous. We definitely felt special while staying there. The grounds were beautiful and our room was very comfortable. The food was simply amazing. The Lake Hotel was also beautiful. David arranged for us to go see Celtic Steps while in Killarney. It was fabulous. One of my favorite things to do on the whole trip. There were LOTS of opportunities to shop and find that special 'trinket' to take back home. The coach we traveled in was also very comfortable. It even had WiFi so we could check emails, send texts, or anything else online. There were also charging stations for our devices at each seat. The small group tour was definitely the way to see Ireland instead of the big tour buses. We brought home many ,430, photographs of the beautiful and unique areas we visited. We also brought home a wealth of information that David shared with us through out our trip. If we visit Ireland again, the small group tour with My Ireland Tours is definitely how we will go.

September 2016  •  Ancient Ireland Tour

Love, love, love! I am so happy that my husband Justin and I found this tour company. We just got back from the Ancient Ireland tour and all I can say is that it was the very best decision we could have made... We were a bit nervous doing a tour but this 8-person tour was perfect and we are already thinking about returning with family and taking up all 8 seats next time :). We also lucked out with an AMAZING driver, Tom Lavin, and he really made this trip special. He loves Ireland and is so knowledgeable... kind, informative and just a great person.
